It is hard to keep up to the activities of the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club. On June 6-7, 32 teams of mixed pairs took to the green for the Berwick, Comox Valley sponsored Scotch Pairs.
Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club is a busy place.
Vern Greenhill's foursome in fine form at Nanaimo's Centennial Fours Our travelers this week were Vern Greenhill, taking his “Green Team” to first place in Nanaimo’s Centennial Fours, May 23-24, 2014. He had a different crew this time – faithful Melie Ursulom with Ross Younger and Jackie West added to the mix. Dean Penny also tried the different green with Carolle Allen, Cath and Don Wiseman. 9/11/2013 Lawn bowlers racking upCourtenay crew keeping busy at home and on the road. As the season winds down, it sometimes seems to be speeding up. Courtenay lawn bowlers are still on the move and the clubhouse and green are being well used.
The green is in fabulous condition and bowling very fast. The Aug. 31-Sept. 1 weekend had the Club Singles championship and Ernest and Carolyn Kassian won the Novice events. Dean Penny won the Men’s with Vern Greenhill as runner-up, Pat Cutt took the Ladies with Melie Ursulom close behind. 6/25/2013 Competition stiff at Scotch PairsLocal lawn bowlers triumph at Brazen Sportswear tournament Courtenay lawn bowlers Vern Greenhill and April Gilchrist won their four games in the Brazen Sportswear Scotch Pairs , June 15-16 at the home green, to take the big trophy. Having won their four games, they then had to face fellow club members Pat Cutt and Al Hopwood (who had also won their four games) Linda and Archie Harris emerge victorious at Courtenay club event
The Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club green was full to capacity for the June 16-17 weekend as 32 teams took part in the Brazen Sportswear Scotch Pairs. The winners were hometown heroes Archie and Linda Harris. Runners-up were Sandi Mitchell and Scott Prior of Parksville. (This is Scott’s second year of bowling). |
