and a Slide Show from 2011 to 2024
Courtenay lawn bowlers are leaving a good mark at out-of-town tournaments. In Port Alberni on July 9-10 at the Ladies Pairs, April Gilchrist and Melie Ursulom took second place while Pat Cutt and Sandy Tonnelier were third as both teams lost only one game of four to the overall winners, Mary Mulligan and Frances Tester. In Nanaimo at the July 17-19 Cruise Plus Mixed Triples, Pat Cutt, Ross Younger and Janet Butler were third in the A event, losing only one game of five to the overall winners, Rick Dolley with Jan and Stu McNaughton. Vern Greenhill, Henri Saucier and Melie Ursulom also lost only one game of the five to win the B event. Peter Harding with Bill and Irene Whitehouse and Dean Penny with Cath and Don Wiseman had two wins and three losses for the tournament.
At home, The Carnival was a huge success as a fundraiser even though more teams could have been accommodated. Many thanks to all of the local merchants who contributed prizes. Winners of the first half of the Wednesday Mixed Triples were Vern Greenhill, Myrna Viers and Beth Perrier. Runners-up were Don Wiseman, Helen Ryley and Melie Ursulom. Webber Singles is still going on with Archie Harris leading the way with no losses and 36 points. April Gilchrist and Peter Harding are tied for second with 18 points. Mixed Pairs is still early with only four games played but Archie and Linda Harris have no losses so lead the way with 12 points. Second half of Wednesday Triples has only two weeks completed. – Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club Courtenay lawn bowlers posting good results at out-of-town tournaments – Comox Valley Record Leave a Reply. |
