History.
and a Slide Show from 2011 to 2024
The “Green Machine” is on a roll again. Courtenay’s Lawn Bowling Club is #1 to start the season with Vern Greenhill, April Gilchrist and Melie Ursulom taking first-place honours at the Derek Shandley Mixed Triples event May 3-4 in Nanaimo. Parksville teams took second and third. Apologies to the team of Dean Penny, Martine Castellani and Anne Kwasnitza as I did not mention their names as participants. The Jackie West, Pat Cutt and Dean Penny teams each made a respectable showing for the first event of the season and in the pouring rain. Yes, we do bowl in the rain, only lightning sends us indoors!
The week of May 5 saw the last of the scheduled coaching sessions on May 5-6, but anyone interested can contact the coaches by leaving a message at 250 338-8222 or stopping by the club when there is some activity there. May 7 saw the start of the weekly Mixed Triples League with 6 p.m. start. Ten teams are registered and scheduled. Spares are always welcome and a new session will start in July. Sign-up sheets are posted. Thursday 242 had 16 turn up and Friday Aggregate saw about 24 participants out , keep them coming!! The Mens and Ladies Pairs on Tuesday start on May 20 and the Webber Singles start on May 22. Still time to sign up for these. Courtenay hosts its first Open event on May 17-18, with a full house. Ninety-six bowlers wlll take to the green in two shifts for four games each. The club is hosting a Strawberry Social and members are to bring a friend or family member (or more than one) to try the game. This will be on May 21 at 1:30 p.m., weather permitting. – Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club Courtenay lawn bowlers in winner’s circle – Comox Valley Record Leave a Reply. |
