Things are rolling, rolling, rolling at the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club. The Open House on Saturday, April 18 proved that this is a sport for all ages and great family entertainment.

Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club bowlers have done it yet again. Archie and Linda Harris won five out of five games to capture the North Island and Powell River Zone Pairs event, Sept. 15-16, in Courtenay. Pat Cutt
Special to the Record Courtenay Lawn Bowling is getting ready to wind down for the season, but not quite yet….we still have a few events to complete. Courtenay lawn bowlers are leaving a good mark at out-of-town tournaments.
In Port Alberni on July 9-10 at the Ladies Pairs, April Gilchrist and Melie Ursulom took second place while Pat Cutt and Sandy Tonnelier were third as both teams lost only one game of four to the overall winners, Mary Mulligan and Frances Tester. The Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club was represented in the Qualicum Ladies’ Pairs by April Gilchrist/Janet Butler, Cath Wiseman/Shelley McCollom, Pat Cutt/Sandi Tonnellier Pat Norrad/Linda Meers. While none of our ladies finished in the money, we did have a good showing for our small club.
It is hard to keep up to the activities of the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club. On June 6-7, 32 teams of mixed pairs took to the green for the Berwick, Comox Valley sponsored Scotch Pairs.

Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club has the season rolling along. We have membership to date of 65 members of which six are Novice bowlers this year. There is always room for more, the coaches are always willing to help an interested participant. Leave a message at 250-338-8222 or stop any time there are bowlers on the green. The Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club is gearing up for yet another stellar season.
President Frank Lo, vice-president Dean Penny, past-president April Gilchrist, secretary Carolle Allan, treasurer Myrna Viers, games chair Peter Harding and greens manager Archie Harris have events in order to start in April. |
