Courtenay Lawn Bowling is off to a good start yet again this season. At the Qualicum Challenge 4s on May 12-13, Dan and Gaynor Bereza with Pete Harding and Pat Norrad claimed the trophy with four games won and 35 ends. Opening Day at the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club had a great turnout to march around the green with the piper, sing O Canada with the flag-raising, and then 16 newcomers joined 28 regulars for a great game of Fours on a great surface. Comox mayor Ives and Cumberland mayor Baird threw the opening bowls as Courtenay mayor Jangula was a bit late. A good time was had by all. |
